Pom Poko

In the vibrant heart of the Tama Hills in Japan, a community of shape-shifting raccoons, known as tanuki, finds their tranquil existence disrupted by encroaching urban development. “Pom Poko” follows the spirited journey of these tanuki, led by the earnest and wise elder, Shiro, as they band together to protect their home from the relentless advance of human civilization. The story seamlessly weaves rich traditions, folklore, and environmental themes into the everyday struggles of the raccoons facing a world that is rapidly changing around them.

As the construction of a new suburban complex threatens their forest, the tanuki unlock their magical abilities to transform into various creatures and objects in a bid to thwart the developers. Among them are the playful and mischievous Poco, who is eager to prove his mettle, and the contemplative and gentle Kira, who dreams of a peaceful coexistence between humans and nature.
