Disconnect

Disconnect

(2018)

In a world where technology connects and isolates in equal measure, “Disconnect” takes viewers on a gripping journey through the lives of four seemingly unrelated characters whose paths intersect in unexpected ways.

Maya, a stressed corporate lawyer, finds her driven lifestyle unraveling as she grapples with anxiety and the pressures of a job that consumes her. In her pursuit of success, she has neglected her personal life, losing touch with friends and family. With her mental health in freefall, she takes a sabbatical to reclaim her lost passions, including her love for painting, which she once abandoned for a life dictated by deadlines and expectations.

Across town, Sam, a disillusioned tech entrepreneur, is on the verge of launching a revolutionary app designed to foster genuine human connections. However, as he dives into the final stages of development, he realizes that the very technology he’s creating is what contributed to the destruction of his own relationships. Struggling with his past as he rallies a team around him, Sam begins questioning if the app can genuinely change lives or merely amplify the disconnection he seeks to combat.

Meanwhile, Denise, a former high school teacher, becomes an online sensation by sharing her candid experiences of raising her autistic son, Leo. While her influence on social media swells, the pressure to maintain her virtual persona pushes her further from the real world that requires her attention. As she juggles the demands of fame, Denise begins to feel the weight of loneliness and the strain it puts on her family.

Lastly, we meet Jamie, a teenage gamer whose online friendships offer him an escape from his mundane reality. However, those virtual bonds start to feel fragile after a fallout with his best friend threatens to spill into the real world, forcing him to confront the consequences of his digital life.

As their stories intertwine and tensions peak, each character is faced with the critical choice to either embrace the isolation of their digital worlds or take a courageous step toward reconnection. “Disconnect” explores themes of identity, vulnerability, and the quest for authentic human connection in an age where screens dominate our lives, challenging viewers to reflect on their own relationships and the true cost of technology.
