Don’t Blame Karma!

Don’t Blame Karma!

(2022)

In the vibrant urban landscape of San Francisco, “Don’t Blame Karma!” follows the intertwined lives of three unlikely friends who learn that fate is not always what it seems. At the center is Mia, a fiercely independent barista struggling to make ends meet while pursuing her dream of becoming a graphic novelist. Although her world is filled with art and ambition, Mia seems to be perpetually stuck in a loop of mishaps and bad decisions—her love life is a disaster, and her finances are just as bleak.

Then there’s Jake, an easy-going but cynical tech entrepreneur haunted by a string of failed ventures and a belief that luck is only for the naive. He spends his days in the grind of Silicon Valley, too jaded to believe in the power of positivity but too talented to let go of his aspirations. Lastly, we meet Lila, a former child star whose career took a nosedive after a public scandal. Now trying to rebuild her life, Lila is a genuine heart wrapped in humor, attempting to navigate her way back to stardom while managing her complicated relationship with her overbearing mother.

The series takes a turn when the trio finds themselves sharing a charming but run-down apartment after a series of unfortunate events leaves them without homes. As they face the chaos of their lives together, Mia stumbles upon an old book that seems to hold the secrets of karma and fate. Spurred on by curiosity, they decide to experiment with “good deeds” to turn their luck around.

Each episode showcases their often hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, efforts to perform acts of kindness, only to discover that the universe has a peculiar sense of humor. While pursuing their goals, they confront their pasts, revealing the complexities of their lives, learning about friendship, love, and accountability. As the line between good and bad karma blurs, they realize that what goes around may not come around in the ways they expect, forcing them to confront their true selves in a comedic yet poignant odyssey of self-discovery. Ultimately, “Don’t Blame Karma!” is a heartwarming tale about embracing life’s unpredictability and understanding that some of the best outcomes are born from the messiest beginnings.
