JUNG_E

JUNG_E

(2023)

In a dystopian future ravaged by climate catastrophe and societal collapse, “JUNG_E” explores the life of Eun-jung, a brilliant but reclusive scientist who has dedicated her life to artificial intelligence and genetic engineering. As the last remnants of humanity struggle for survival in fortified mega-cities, Eun-jung presents a revolutionary solution to protect the future: a highly advanced AI designed to embody the greatest military strategist of all time—her late mother, Commander Jung-hee, who perished in a catastrophic war.

With the earth reaching its breaking point, Eun-jung is recruited by the authoritarian regime governing the ravaged world. Tasked with integrating her mother’s consciousness into a combat-ready android, Eun-jung battles her own moral dilemmas as she grapples with the implications of recreating her mother in a digital form. As she struggles to perfect the AI, she finds herself bonded to Jung_E—an entity that gradually evolves, exhibiting emotions and asserting its own identity.

The series follows Eun-jung’s journey as she navigates the treacherous waters of power, control, and her unresolved grief. She is joined by a diverse cast of characters, including Ji-hoon, a cynical hacker with his own dark past; Mina, a fiercely loyal friend who questions the ethics of the project; and Kwan, a defector from the regime who becomes a vital ally in the fight against tyranny. Together, they uncover an underground rebellion determined to dismantle the regime’s oppressive control and exploitative grasp on technology.

As the stakes rise and the regime begins to suspect Eun-jung’s loyalty, the lines between human and machine blur. What starts as a project to preserve a legacy devolves into a struggle for autonomy, where both Eun-jung and Jung_E must confront what it truly means to be alive. Themes of sacrifice, the essence of humanity, and the moral implications of technology intertwine in a high-stakes narrative filled with suspense, action, and deep emotional resonance. “JUNG_E” ultimately asks the audience to consider the lengths one will go to rescue not just the future, but the very soul of humanity.
