Poly

Poly

(2020)

In the quiet town of Evansville, 17-year-old Poly Sinclair struggles to fit into a world that seems to thrive on tradition and conformity. An aspiring painter, Poly feels trapped in a routine life marked by the expectations of her overbearing parents, who envision a future steeped in academia and success. Yet, her heart lies on the canvas, where she pours her passion and dreams, creating a vibrant universe filled with possibilities.

When a mysterious new art teacher, Mr. Hartman, arrives at Evansville High, he ignites a fire within Poly. With his unconventional teaching methods and encouragement, he inspires her to explore the boundaries of her creativity and embrace her unique perspective. As Poly begins to discover her authentic self, she forges friendships with unlikely allies—a rebellious photographer named Sam, who captures the raw essence of life, and a shy poet, Maddie, whose words paint their own vivid imagery. Together, they band together to challenge the status quo of their conservative community.

However, their journey of self-discovery is far from smooth. As Poly’s artwork gains attention and sparks conversations in the town, it also stirs up a whirlwind of controversy. The clash between her artistic expression and the town’s traditional values reaches a boiling point, forcing Poly to confront her identity and what it means to be true to oneself. Tensions rise as her family pressures her to abandon her dreams for a more conventional path, testing her resolve and creativity.

“Poly” is an evocative coming-of-age story that grapples with themes of identity, acceptance, and the courage to break free from societal constraints. As Poly navigates the tumultuous waters of adolescence, she learns that art is not merely a form of expression but a powerful tool for change. With breathtaking visuals and a heartfelt narrative, this series captures the whirlwind of teenage emotions, the struggle for self-acceptance, and the beauty of friendship. In a world that often tries to define who we should be, “Poly” dares to ask the question: What if we dared to paint our own future?
