Up North

Up North

(2018)

In the heart of the unspoiled Canadian wilderness lies the tiny town of Eldridge, a place where the stunning beauty of nature meets the complexities of human relationships. “Up North” follows the intertwined lives of three main characters: Mia, a free-spirited photographer escaping the chaos of city life; Jack, a rugged local guide wrestling with family expectations and community responsibilities; and Emma, a driven wildlife biologist on the brink of a groundbreaking discovery that could affect the region’s ecosystem.

When Mia arrives in Eldridge for a summer retreat, she is immediately entranced by the majestic landscapes and the charm of small-town life. Her intention is to recharge her creative spirit, but she quickly finds herself enmeshed in the lives of Jack and Emma. Jack, who has always felt tethered to Eldridge, dreams of exploring the world but is torn by the obligation to support his ailing father. As Mia’s photography captures the beauty of the town, it also reveals Jack’s inner turmoil and the barriers he has created for himself.

Emma, on the other hand, is determined to show the community the importance of preserving their natural heritage, but faces pushback from residents who fear change. When Mia joins Emma on her research expeditions, the two women form a unique bond. They tackle their fears and ambitions together, pushing each other to embrace their true selves. The intricate dynamics among the characters grow more intense as Jack finds himself drawn to both women, each representing a different kind of freedom and purpose.

As the summer unfolds, the trio faces unexpected challenges, from wildfires endangering the local wildlife to personal conflicts threatening their budding relationships. “Up North” is a poignant exploration of connection, sacrifice, and the journey to self-discovery. With breathtaking visuals of rolling mountains, serene lakes, and vibrant wildlife, the series serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between progress and preservation.

In this heartfelt tale, Mia, Jack, and Emma must confront their pasts and make choices that will define their futures, proving that sometimes to find your way, you have to go Up North.
